The association of parents of pupils of the Boussad-Boubchir primary school in the Ilounissen village of Aït Yahia Moussa (daïra of Draâ El-Mizan, south of Tizi Ouzou) continues to draw the attention of the officials concerned to the danger that the presence of asbestos poses to the health of children and teachers.

According to the president of the association of parents of pupils, Saïd Boubchir, all the services concerned, in particular the APC, the daïra, the wilaya and the direction of education, were alerted and took note of their grievances, in vain. “Half of this school block is made of asbestos, including three classrooms, toilets and the fence. Almost thirty years after its realization, it is still there while we have made a host of steps for its demolition because it is a case of public health ”, he explained, recalling in passing that a request had been filed in the wilaya on October 21.

“At the moment, there is only a meager report drawn up by the CLC in 2020 without any concrete decisions. I would say that this report is incomplete, ”he regretted, calling in passing for an in-depth study capable of providing their village with a school worthy of the name to shelter children and their teachers.

This is why, he judged, the intervention of the wali is more than essential, because the direction of education did not respond to the requests of the association. “On April 19, 2021, we held a meeting with the Director of Education and discussed the situation at this school. Unfortunately, the manager adjourned the meeting in a fishtail, while we waited two months to be received.
